All by myself and I love it.

The last few weeks have been nothing but crazy. Late hours during the week for work, and nothing but go, go, go on the weekends. So today is my first day to just sit back and do absolutely nothing. It also helps that Andy (my other half) has a 5 hour law school seminar and I actually have the apartment all to myself to catch up on some of my favorite blogs here, here and here.

I also went out to get some new blooms for my living room. Now that the sunshine has disappeared momentarily and the cold normal spring we have been accustomed to in the previous years is back, I needed a little something to brighten up the room.

Meanwhile, the countdown is on and only 7 more days till I will officially be on my way to Nassau Island to visit the well acclaimed "Atlantis" resort. I'm going with my Dad, so its no honeymoon, but I'm excited to get out of the country and get some sun.

I found a few sandals here, here and here that would be a great addition to my suitcase so I might do a little shopping later.

Which means I probably should get up and do something. :)

Tangled Mess

Ever get to work and realize you were missing your favorite bracelet or you forgot to put your earrings in?   Lately that has been me. Every morning I found myself forgetting my watch, not putting on a cute set of bangles, and it was driving me crazy.  I realized it was because I was no longer organized. My jewelry was tangled in a heap in a tupperware bin.

To take matters into my own hands, I started looking for cute bowls. The options were endless but I didn't want to spend a fortune. Which is why I lucked out when I went to Home Goods yesterday with Andy's Mom.  For less than $9 I got two sizes of the bowl on the left. The inside looks like the picture on the right.  I can't complain and I can finally pick out "some" of my jewelry without hassle.

Cheers to the Weekend

This past week I got to travel to Boston for work. It was a crazy week full of meetings and not much opportunity to take in all that Boston/Central Mass has to offer. I did however, get to check out the Bruins game on Monday where they smashed the Toronto Maple Leafs 8-0 which was exciting.

The rest of the week I actually spent my time in the suburbs of Boston where I learned more about the quaint towns where our stores are located. Needless after 5 days I was ready to be home.

To celebrate the long week I grabbed a pitcher of margaritas at one of our favorite mexican restaurants in downtown Royal Oak called Monterey Cantina'. They have the best baked nachos and after 10pm on Saturday's they feature half off drinks.

Happy St. Patricks Day (Belated)

Hope everyone had a fantastic St.Patrick's Day.  I was happy I got to get in some much needed time with friends before my trip to Massachusetts for the week for work.  Nothing like a nice cold refreshing green beer to cleanse your  last weeks worth of worries away.

What did you get to do on St. Patrick's Day?

P.S: Thank you to my best friend Brittany for letting me snag her picture of our beers from yesterday afternoon -

Spring Blooms

Now that time has moved ahead, I would like to fast forward to my favorite part of Spring.

Fresh flowers. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved nothing more than a freshly picked bouquet of random flowers to place in a vase in my room.

Luckily my boyfriend is pretty sweet and I can usually count on at least one fresh bloom to be in our apartment. This week he choose a gorgeous small bunch of red tulips for our living room that are slowly starting to open up.

What are your favorite blooms to look forward to in the Spring/Summer?

Something Sweet

This weekend I found a great little receipe found here that I knew I had to try.  It seemed simple enough and I even had my boyfriend in on the action of putting it together with me.

My biggest struggle was the chocolate coating. I only had Milk Chocolate morsels and for whatever reason they didn't want to melt the way I wanted them to. They still turned out to be pretty tasty and I would definitely suggest this to anyone.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Mod-ern Flowers

A few weeks ago I was checking out a few galleries put together on Etsy and came across these fun modern flowers. I thought these were super cute and wanted to get something similar to switch out what was currently in my vases in my living room.

I searched high and low to see if I could find something closer to home that had the same look and feel as I really didn't want to spend too much for one vase of flowers to no avail. Then I found this tutorial here

It was super easy, and costs all of $4 to do.

If you live in an apartment like me and "sticks" aren't an easy option to find, I suggest using stems of any now dead bouquet of flowers you might have from Valentine's Day.

Here is what I came up with - what do you think?

My Luck

Last week I was super excited to finally start on a new blog. When I was much younger (in my teens) I had a few blogs. I got into the whole .com, and .net having a few sites dedicated to my love for boy bands, along with my love for graphic design and even dabbled with web cams.

However, once I had my first real boyfriend the time I needed to dedicate to keeping up a blog started to lean more towards him and I lost interest.

Since then people have surpassed my talent with graphic design even through I played for hours with paint shop pro and adobe well before anyone knew what they were (at my age) and now just want to see if I can keep it up. If anything just another reason to focus my talents on something new, something exciting.

Besides my past with attempting to have a blog, I should have taken what happened while trying to upload photos for my blog last week as a sign that yet again this might not be for me. My hard drive crashed!

Five years of my life gone. Countless indesign files, adobe works, my advertising portfolio, and all my personal photos erased. I would think I should be more upset then I am, but take it as a clean slate.  It is almost refreshing minus that I don't have Adobe on my computer yet. Luckily there are great people like her who have designs people like me can snag in the meantime.

Hope for you to enjoy my following posts as I continue to add content. :)
